Back to Woodturning for Quarantine Sanity

Woodworking has been a hobby of mine since the late-1990’s when I joined a local woodworking club and started taking classes to make things for my home. My first was a coffee table, which still graces our family room. I went on to make everything from a jewelry chest for my wife to twin beds for my twin sons.

Then I discovered the lathe. Something about the process of taking a chunk of any irregular shaped piece of wood and spinning and shaving it down to something beautiful and useful just amazed me. And it was a lot of fun! I made all sorts of things: pens, keychains, wine bottle stoppers – and more! I even made a rattle for my sons by carving a few Captured Rings around a cylindrical handle, all out of a single piece of wood. And that was the inspiration of my company name!

However, as sometimes happens, life and the joys of parenting stepped in, and my focus shifted to raising my twin sons with my wife and building our life together.

Years later, in 2020, feeling the cabin fever and boredom that came with quarantine from the COVID-19 pandemic I decided to buy a lathe and get back into woodturning. I found the process of turning the wood very relaxing not to mention the satisfaction I get from creating something new in a variety of cool shapes and designs.

I hope you like my creations. If you see something you like but would like it in a different color or wood, or even a different design, feel free to contact me. I love making custom, one-of-a-kind pieces. Use the pieces I have posted in my shop for inspiration, or let me know if you like something just the way it is and I can make you an identical piece, if I don’t have it already in stock.
